Krispy Kreme - Once the home of the best ‘plain’ coffee in town, now they have their ‘own’ mild, strong, blah and yuck flavors. Bad idea guys. We haven’t been back in 6 months.
Jitters in Henderson - At Warm Springs and Green Valley Parkway, I am sad to say that even this location, once considered the only dependable source of great coffee and variety (think coconut crème, how sad) has resorted to serving either burnt flavors or hazelnut far too often like the rest of this dying chain. Jitters is a sinking ship that I wish would be revived. Who knows, maybe they will read this and shape back up. I hope so because when they were doing their job, I was there daily and even held meetings in their lounge.
Borders - Once the greatest bookstores in town, it's now a wonder they exist. The coffee is BORDER-line awful. The book selection is vast but limited to crap over quality reading. The place is also spaced out to always look like they're half way restocking the shelves or tearing them down.... And GOD FORBID you ask for assistance.
Jitters in Summerlin - “It seemed like for a while there that after having all the other Jitters in our area closed for suddenly serving bad coffee, this was the only one left to bother with. Unfortunately, nowadays, you definitely go at your own risk here too. There is no telling whether it will be open when the sign says it is supposed to be nor whether the same old dirty hazelnut is yet again your only choice. Man, the days of a different flavor every day other week are a thing of the past. Grief sets in…. Although Jitters still proves to be better than Starbucks and many other over priced wannabe coffee emporiums, it barely can hold a candle to any run of the mill 7-11 stores flavored javas. Time for Jitter's to regroup and get a different game plan.”
7-11 at Rainbow and Tropicana - Want good coffee? We have NEVER been let down with the coffee here! French Vanilla, Blueberry Crème, Chocolate Cherry… All I can say is that the manager here and the coffee are the most refreshing things we have come across in the 6 months of investigating the locations you suggested to us this past year.
Coffee Beanery - “Hit or miss you could get a good cup of Joe here too. Miss is usually the case though. 10 trips, 6 burnt cups. I have asked for refunds 3 of 6 trips to this place for their taste alone and I am forgetting to mention that I was sometimes the only person in line and it taking 10 minutes to fill me up. Must be the smiling cashiers that keep bringing me back to the various locations. I do not know. It certainly isn’t the taste.”
7-11 AGAIN - Oh man, why shop here? Steel Reserve? Camo beer? Yes and no. We go for the chocolate raspberry, mocha mint, blueberry crème and Irish coffees as already mentioned as they DEFINITELY offer the current BEST java in town. If you don't see a specialty flavor you might like to try... Get the clerk to brew you a fresh pot from the many selections they have stashed under the coffee machine cabinets. It takes them no time at all, and you're guaranteed a great cup of coffee.... Fresh.... Just for you... Makes you feel special and all warm inside. Unless of course you pick a location that the cashier is a wanker and won’t take the 30 seconds to help you (Decatur and Jones, Flamingo and Koval ring a bell….)

From Reuters Health: Caffeine use may positively affect the process of long-term memory by changing the structure of dendritic spines, tiny "branches'' found on nerve cells in the central nervous system. According to Dr. Menahem Segal of The Weizmann Institute in Rehovot, Israel, scientists have assumed that changes in the size and shape of these dendritic spines are related to long-term memory, meaning long term memory is eventually affected. In a new study reported in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the Israeli researchers show that when caffeine is added to the cells, the dendrites not only grow longer, but also develop new spines or branches.
Segal studied cells from the hippocampus, a part of the brain that plays an important role in learning and memory. When left alone without stimulation, the cells did not do anything at all over a 3 to 4 hour period. But adding caffeine to the cells raised the level of calcium inside them, causing them to grow about 33% in size. Calcium is an important factor in signal transmission or cellular communication in the brain as are all minerals. Previous laboratory studies had found that raising the calcium levels alone in dendritic cells caused them to collapse but adding calcium along with other trace minerals, dendritic cells seemed to feed on them. Caffeine also seemed to stimulate this natural effect. Korkotian and Segal suggest that the difference in findings may be that in the previous studies, adding glutamate causes more calcium to enter the cells, while adding too much caffeine caused the cells to release their stored calcium.
The quest is for balance. Also, the researchers add, while glutamate causes a much larger increase in calcium inside the cells, caffeine produces a more moderate increase if used separate. Moderate use is good but too much is bad. These findings suggest that minerals "may be even more important than originally proposed'' in the process of increasing health in our central nervous system cells, and that caffeine may be a necessary nutrient on a limited basis, noted the authors. The investigators also found that new spines tended to grow on parts of the cells that already had lots of spines, rather than in areas where there were not many spines at all.
Those findings point to a need for further research into the processes, since it suggests that a modest, temporary rise in caffeine and mineral levels result in growth and proliferation of these important brain cells, while a larger and more prolonged use and rise causes the cells to collapse. Again, a little is good. A lot is not. The implications for long-term memory and learning are intriguing but because studies which doubled the caffeine intake showed a reversal of these positive symptoms, more research is required. Three cups a week was acceptable. Six was not. Did you read that? CUT BACK on your fat burners! Taking MORE is a B-A-D thing!!! Not to mention we all need our minerals! The only fat burners I use are from FOOD.
